Liao Zhongkai is a Chinese-American Kuomintang leader and financier. In 1925, he was the target of an assassination attempt by the right wing of the KMT, which he however survived and which led to the purge of several high-ranking KMT members such as Hu Hanmin. As of 1936, he is the exiled Co-Chairman of the KMT Central Committee in Paris, being the second most important figure of the association after Wang Jingwei himself.
