The Armistice of Chantilly, sometimes called the Armistice of 12 August 1919, was the armistice that ended fighting on land, sea and air in the Weltkrieg, although the war did not formally conclude until the Treaty of Versailles in November 1919 or, de jure, the Tsingtao Accord in November 1921. Signed at Chateau de Chantilly around 50 kilometres north of Paris in Oise department, it provided for the return of occupied Entente and Central Powers territory with the exception of the Japanese-occupied German colonies and concessions in China and the Pacific and the British-occupied Middle East, the repatriation of prisoners, and Entente diplomatic recognition of the Central Powers' gains from its former members.
